This popular hands on event will be held again at our farm in western Illinois. The seminar will be geared for alpaca owners and breeders interested in gaining knowledge regarding reproduction, birthing, and care of the newborn.

Alpaca Association of Western Oregon is sponsoring this very informative and important educational taught by Dr. Paul Jones, DVM of Woodburn Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Jones has extensive knowledge of alpacas and has earned many awards for excellent service during his years of practice in the Pacific NW.
The following subjects are a sampling of what Dr. Jones will cover:

1. Physical assessment and care needs of the newborn cria and mom.
2. Identifying critical needs requiring veterinary intervention
3. Nursing issues/IGG's and how to increase success
4. Plasma transfusion
5. Special nutritional/fluid needs of the cria and mom
6. Vaccinations and Vitamin/Mineral/Probiotic Supplements
6. The orphaned cria/bottle feeding recommendations
7. Gastrointestinal problems including cria diarrhea and parasites
8. Normal growth and development
8. Weaning the cria successfully

This class will be packed full of valuable information and it is the only one of it's kind in Oregon. This class is designed for both the new breeder and the breeder with some experience.
